Sturgis day four

So here we are in Sturgis, bike week is long past town is really quiet. The ride in was beautiful again a sunny day but still really chilly, fully layered up. We stopped at the little Big Horn Monument site. That is where Custer got his ass whooped and killed. We sat and listened to a speaker about the battle and well after awhile squirrel mode kicked and up we got and wondered around the site. Grave markers are all over the site, where a soldier died there was a marker placed in the exact location, kinda spooky. In the site there is another grave area for soilders of past wars from the state of Montana buried there, Also one for the horses that were shot, marked in the spot were they were killed in the battle. Very sad, when you walk through these sites there is one thing you realize....

Freedom is not Free.......

couple days late

Well its been a whirl wind we have missed acouple days do to time and well just didn't want to sit in front of the computer.
After we left Post Falls, Idaho we stopped in a little town of Wallace Idaho, had breakfast there, but the main reason for the stop was its history. The town dates way back to the mining days but it was known for its Brothels. All the Brothels are gone today but the buildings still remain. We wondered around met some friendly locals and had a good breakfast, Jonesy had biscuits and gravey, ( my fav). Back on the road and heading to Billings, the weather through the pass in Idaho was spectacularlly cold, the day was sunny but it really didn't get that warm.

Well here is where the day gets interesting, just around Butte Montana we pull in for fuel, I know you Harley guys aren't gonna believe this, the nay sayers are gonna say not possible but one of the bikes had developed an oil leak. Ya I know say it isn't so, but it did happen. so we bought generic oil from the gas station and limped to a Harley Dealership and bought some good oil. We didn't change it there we wanted to find where the leak was so we had them clean the bike and away we went down the road. About a hundred clicks in we pulled into a small town and checked, still no luck in finding the leak so we changed the oil out. We final pulled into another Harley Dealership and had them look, they figured the leak was from the rear seal in the primary, they top the oil up said its not that bad and just keep an eye on it. And away we went again heading towards our destination of Billings.
Does everbody have enough gas , ya ummhuh well it didn't work out that way so we are gonna run out of gas soon, luck is still on our side there as sign gas next stop, woohoo we pull in its closed, wow a barrage of bad words and we a good laugh and while we were sitting there this guy drive in with a pickup full of stuff. We said hey station closed. he said he had enough to get to the next stop. We jokingly asked hey you wouldn't have some gas in a can and he said ya, no seriously do you got gas and he said ya, so we got the five gallons plus and split it between the three bike to make it to the next stop. Now is that shit house luck or what. Gave the guy some money shook his hand, had a good laugh with a whew in there and away we went. We finally made it into Billings around 9:30 that night, needless to say a very long but interesting day

day 2 N Y9-11

Well today stated off early. We left Mission in the fog and mist, it cleared around Chilliwack to a grey day. We rode up the Hope Princeton, it was bloody freezing we stop at Manning Park and put on our warm gear. If you ask Rose Marie I think she would tell ya it was a little late, we were all pretty cold. We had a short visit with Bill and Karen in Keromeous and then onto Osoyoos were met met a couple more riders and then a few more at rock creek before continuing on to Cascade were we crossed the border into Washington State. It was a really nice ride from Cascade to Spokane and then it was on to post falls along the I- 90 to our hotel.

trip to NY 9-11

So we left Powell River and had an easy ride to Mission, we stayed at a friends house and help them celebrate the anniversary. it was a totally fun evening, bottle of wine and some beer alittle scotch made for a tough wake up. We met some really nice guys on the ferry, they were from Virgina. They were having a great trip but ere a little peed that some places wouldn't take there money. We couldn't resist so we tormented them a little about it not being worth that much.

new york day 6

Weather has been really good, no rain always sunny and hot, locals say we have been really lucky.
So the last two days we've been busy. We caught the blue train into the Chelsea District, got off and walked to 24 to walk the High Line. It is an above ground raised train line, this line was used to bring cows to the slaughter houses and flour to Nabisco along with turkeys and some produce. This was built in the 30's and ran up until 1980. After the 80's it sat rusting away until a group got it and turned it into a walkway, It wil be ten blocks long in june when the open the second section. A really wonderful walk and a great view of that particular part of the city.

We then caught the blue train down to Times Square, wondered over to the Empire State Building and bought tickets to go on the sky ride and then an elevator ride to the 86th floor. After we got our tickets we headed to a ticket box office( stubhub) and bought tickets to a Yankees ball game. Went back home and change to some warmr cloths and headed to the game. The ride to the game took three trains, let me tell you the underground world of New York is just as big and amazing as the City itself.

Well Yankee Stadium is everthing it is billed as, big, amazing and well run. We had tickets on the third base line, 12 rows up. Yankee fans are more fanatic then hockey fans and the are absolutey ruthless when it comes to the players not playing well. I mean crazy like.....

The Empire State building tour was impressive to say the least. We went on the sky ride, it is a imax stationary roller coaster that moves with a helicopter flight filming the city, if you get motion sickness, I would suggest not going on it. View and pictures from the top were amazing, it is a crazy huge city when you look at it from that high up, lots of green space on the roofs of many of the high rises.

We also attended a tattoo convention before going to a Broadway play. Saw some crazy shit at the convention, and some really wild tattoo's, oh ya Linda got a tatty. The Broadway play show cased Robin Williams in Bengal Tiger, a zoo in Bagdad. What an intense play it was about a tiger, the war, and soldiers in Baghdad and they all ended up dead through out the play and were transformed into ghost. Really moving stuff.

Well thats it for today, Will post some more later tonight.

new york day 4

Today is day 4 but my better 1/2 has been too busy checking out this great City that he hasn't the time to update....ya ya, you know how it is to be on vacation... Well we've been doing most on foot or by subway (an incredible world in itself!) Went to WTC and took in all the new construction, totally stunds you to try and imagine the panic and fear these peole must still deal with.
I bought Mick and I an apple from street vendor so we had "an apple in the big apple." We loved Chelsa Market, Hogs 'n Heffers and Times Square...WOW, We both have sore necks from gawking. Went for Guinness just to recoup. Every pub has it on tap so I am loving it!
Yesterday was Coney Island, Mick had his feet in the ocean, it was such a warm day, people fishing, movie being filmed, boardwalk full of interesting characters and garbage cans every 10 feet. No wonder everything is so clean... Had a beer and sat beside a couple Sopranos... trying not to laugh too loud at them, but they were entertaining. We had a hotdog with all the fixin's, then were off to walk...Manhattan Bridge east and back on the Brooklyn. Something I always wanted to do! Checked out Canal Street shopping (won't go into detail, but so much fun). We ate supper in Chinatown and then took subway back up to 79th. Stopped in for a nightcap before taking our tired, tourist bodies back to our bed.

new york trip

Well we took the red eye to get here, arrived a 7 in the morning, couldn't check in till 3 so we wondered around town. Hung out at central park a bit, really nice not at all like the movies, even had a nap in the park and no one robbed us. Hotel (Park 79) is really nice the room is small but hey all were doing is sleeping here. Ok I know we napped in the park but we didn't have our room. We ended up at a sports bar called Blondies, just down the street from the hotel, watched the game, ya canucks. Sometimes you shouldn't yell at the tv if your in a different country. We meet alot of friendly people and got some good advice on where to go.

Tomorrow is another day we will take a camera and then add photos. Truly it is a beautiful city.
